Terry Burton On Alberta Election
Will The Long Knives For Danielle Smith Now Be Returned to Their Sheath—By Disaffected Conservatives?
I agree with this article by Terry Burton, posted by my friend Brian Peckford.
Almost every article in the mainstream media is biased, NDP-and-Liberal propaganda, and the reality is even worse than Burton states.
Jason Kenney talked tough, but once elected he jumped into bed with leftists Justin-and-Jagmeet. Kenney was a pro-left Trojan Horse who betrayed the people of Alberta.
Kenney’s greatest failing was his full collaboration with Trudeau’s Covid-19 Lockdowns-and-Vaccines scam. The unjustified Lockdowns caused enormous harm to Alberta’s businesses and their employees. The toxic Covid-19 “vaccines”, have killed over 10,000 Albertans to 1June2023 and that death toll continues to increase. I warned Kenney and all Alberta MLA’s, other politicians and media in writing on 8Jan2021 to NOT release the toxic mRNA vaccines, based on highly credible medical evidence.
Terry Burton has written a good article, but he is far too kind to Jason Kenny, who might has well have been working for the uber-corrupt Liberal-NDP coalition.

Will The Long Knives For Danielle Smith Now Be Returned to Their Sheath—By Disaffected Conservatives?
I listened to the talking heads and pundits on TV election night and was, once again, confronted with a media that are salivating at the thought of taking Danielle Smith down. Jeez, the CBC talking heads were frothing at the mouth, it seemed!!!
Smith, as we are all aware, was provided a can of worms by the hapless, unprincipled cowardice displayed by the inept leadership of Jason Kenney.
Kenney was an abysmal failure and for all intents and purposes, a stooge, a Trojan Horse, a shrill for the Federal Liberals in Ottawa. Kenney was provided a massive platform from which he could have, should have stood his ground and put Alberta and Albertan interest front row and Centre. He did not—he caved and showed no backbone, he participated in and helped advance the trampling of the Canadian Constitution and, in particular, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Jason Kenney, whom I initially supported, was a major disappointed and he severely weakened the UCP and Alberta. He was like a deer in the headlights when it came to Covid-19 mandates and management, he was a failure of epic proportions, in this regard. Why such lack of backbone, by Kenney, still remains a mystery to those of principle.
This is the Kenney mess that Danielle Smith inherited and she has been working diligently to reverse the damage done to Alberta by Kenney and the previous NDP Notley lead administration.
Danielle did not inherit a pretty picture , and in spite of such, she has done a yeoman’s job in trying to bring a fractured party together. She has done such with conviction, a principled stance and an obvious commitment to doing what is right for Albertans and Alberta.
Yes, Danielle has made a number of missteps, like every leader does, but, make no mistake, the missteps were not maliciously motivated but driven by compassion, to help right a wrong, to show humanity and to slow down, if not stop, the slide of Alberta into the abyss of political correctness, Wokeism, virtue signalling and victimization. She has done all of that whilst attempting to traverse the gangplank of balancing divergent interests in a very fractious election environment.
Albertans are known as a proud, hardworking, generous, compassionate people but they know when to call a spade a spade, and call bovine excrement what it is. Albertans are not adverse to laying down the gauntlet when they are being maligned, when taken advantage off, when they are subjected to great unfairness, when their beliefs, values, ethics, morals and principles (BVEMPs) are being attacked by those who are sworn to defend them. This is the reality which Danielle and, by extension, all Albertans face.
Sorry, this is no time for the faint-of-heart leadership in Alberta. Rather, it is a time for great intestinal fortitude, a time when one needs to be crystal clear as to who is attempting to scuttle the ship of Alberta. Danielle must be laser like focused regarding such threats, and must devote the required energy to trying to repair the damage being inflicted by an adversarial and bellicose federal government.
Sadly, Danielle will need to be checking her back on a regular bases, as she will be attacked relentlessly by the following:
* The resentful and bitter Kenney loyalists who are refusing, at least at this juncture, to put Alberta’s interests first;
* The failing Education System (K-12 and post-Secondary) that refuses to acknowledge that it is complicit in its own poor outcomes and seems incapable of reflecting on its self-inflicted failures.
The only solution always seems to be, from the Education System and Teacher Union perspective, is more money, more money, more money. Why should taxpayers continue to throw more money at a System that is consistently producing poorer results on virtually every meaningful measure;
* The failing Medical System that refuses to acknowledge that it is complicit in its own poor outcomes and seems incapable of reflecting on its self-inflicted failures. The only solution always seems to be, from the System’s perspective, is more money, more money, more money;
* The biased, corrupt media that, in most cases, is a welfare recipient of the leftist federal government;
* The climate change Alarmists that refuse to follow the science, or acknowledge that the science is not settled. Consequently, we should be encouraging more genuine, unbiased research regarding climate concerns;
* Many within the civil service that are working feverishly to sabotage Danielle’s and the UCP’s policies and programs;
* A Liberal federal government that will erect every barrier they can to diminish Danielle’s leadership and success;
* The mayors of Edmonton and Calgary that will try to blame every one of their failures on Danielle and the UCP;
* She must dodge the daggers that are being sharpened and thrust incessantly at Danielle and the UCP, especially regarding the following potential initiatives:
1. An Alberta police force, like the PROVINCIAL police forces in Ontario (OPP) or the Quebec PROVINCIAL police force in Quebec, that is, the Sûreté du Quebec. This would merely create a situation where Alberta can determine its own police force requirements, direct the needed resources where deemed needed, and not be beholden to the RCMP—that is controlled by Ottawa.
No disrespect intended toward the RCMP, they are a great police force. However, they are controlled by Ottawa politicians;
2. To establish a pension plan like Quebec. This would create a situation where Alberta can determine its own pension plan requirements, and direct the resources deemed needed to this pension plan, and not be beholden to the CPP that is controlled by politicians in Ottawa;
3. That the Sovereignty Act be used to assist Alberta in protecting its rightful provincial jurisdiction. If for no other reason and benefit than to enhances Alberta’s negotiating position and strength with the Feds. No, it is not a weapon to advance Alberta separation. A province protecting one’s jurisdiction contained in the Constitution, by such Sovereignty instrument, should not be necessary in a confederation, like Canada, but ongoing federal intrusion into provincial matters seems to suggest such is a wise move by any province.
4. Working with all sister provinces to align and gain support for the promotion of Alberta’s development. Sadly, there may be the usual suspects that will be more than enthused to accept Alberta’s contribution towards equalization and employment for fellow Canadians, however, show great intransigence when it comes to opening their borders to Alberta pipelines and resource development.
Yes, Alberta is now at a juncture where very tough decisions needed to be made. It is my fervent hope that Danielle is wise and diplomatic in her approach, especially with the Feds.
However, I’m equally hopeful that she is not a pushover and in no uncertain terms conveys to the Feds. that Alberta is to be respected, treated fairly and seen as an equal partner in the federation. If such is not forthcoming from the Feds., she should, again, in no uncertain terms, make it crystal clear that Alberta and Albertans will not be subservient nor in any manner capitulate to federal intrusion and bullying.
That being said, I worry about my beloved country and pray fervently it finds its way back to a road paved with common sense, a firm commitment to democracy and the Constitution, a commitment to the rule-of-Law and rationality— all of which is under phenomenal threat, as we speak.
