Alberta politicians of all stripes have squandered our wealth and destroyed growth in our economy by the most remarkable incompetence.
We had the strongest economy in the G8 countries for decades. Then Ralph Klein ruined our electricity system through "de-regulation", actually green nonsense and corruption.
Then Ed Stelmach destroyed growth in the oil sands by killing my Royalty system. That is why downtown Calgary offices are empty and our educated kids have to leave to get good jobs.
Then Rachel Notley converted our coal-fired power plants to natural gas, driving up costs, reducing grid reliability and doing nothing for the environment. Air quality in Alberta is affected 1000 times more by forest fires than coal plants.
If we had even moderately competent governments, Alberta would have a sovereign wealth fund bigger than Norway's - trillions of dollars have been wasted, much of it supporting idle people who chose not to work.
A few colleagues and I created the decades-long prosperity that we enjoyed until recently - all our idiot politicians needed to do was "leave it alone"! We are governed by imbeciles.
